WASHINGTON – Ward One Democrats has expanded its endorsement process for the June 2026 elections to now include the races for Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives and both At-Large DC Council seats. The group, which represents more than 40,000 Democrats in the city’s most diverse ward, said the new races build on an endorsement process already underway for mayor, Ward 1 Council, and party committee positions.
On Feb. 19, 2026, the Ward 1 Democratic Committee — the governing body of Ward One Democrats — voted on a final endorsement framework for these seven races, which also includes the mayor's race, the Ward 1 Council contest, and the national and state party committee seats.
Officers of the organization said by establishing the full scope now, they are being transparent about the offices it believes most directly affect Ward 1 residents, and are ensuring the organization’s endorsements remain focused and meaningful.
“This vote gives candidates and voters our complete roadmap for our 2026 primary election endorsement process,” said Gabrielle Rogoff, Ward One Democrats’ vice chair and endorsements subcommittee chair. “We invite our candidates and fellow Democrats across Ward 1 to participate in this deliberate, member-driven process. By bringing together informed voters and responsive candidates, we can help ensure the voices of residents are heard, their values reflected, and their lives improved.”
The endorsement process for each contest begins with a candidate questionnaire, which candidates can obtain by visiting Ward1Democrats.org/endorsements. Questionnaires for all offices are due by 11:59 p.m. ET on March 14, 2026, and candidate responses will be published shortly thereafter at Ward1Democrats.org/endorsements to help voters compare positions ahead of the June 16 primary.
Ward One Democrats will also host a candidate forum on March 21 and hold its endorsement vote on April 11. Additional details will be posted at Ward1Democrats.org/events.
More information about the endorsement process is also available by emailing info@ward1democrats.org.
