PRECINCT 38 REPRESENTATIVE
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Vida Rangel is a Columbia Heights resident and serves as a Precinct 38 Representative, Executive Committee member, and Elections Committee Chair for the Ward 1 Democrats.
She is a community organizer and public servant with a long history of working to improve the lives of those in her communities and improving the systems we all live under. Her commitment to community and to working families is shaped by her lived experience as an autistic transLatina.
During her undergraduate and graduate studies, Vida worked in constituent services for various elected officials at the city, county, state, and federal levels, helping thousands of families, seniors, and low-income workers find and access the programs and services they need.
Vida previously worked as Policy Counsel for the National Center for Transgender Equality, and was founder and Chair of her union, NCTE United. She also served as Deputy Voter Protection Director for the Wisconsin Democrats for the 2020 general election, where she lead the largest early vote voter protection program in the history of the state and spearheaded voter protection efforts in Milwaukee County during the election and the recount. Her previous board service on the boards of Black & Pink National, Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, DC, National Lawyers Guild - Chicago, LAGBAC (Chicago’s LGBTQ+ Bar Association), and the National Latina/o Law Student Association.
Vida currently serves as Deputy Director of the Mayor’s Office of Talent and Appointments, where she leads recruitment for mayoral appointments to staff positions as well as boards and commissions. She is the highest ranking openly transgender official in the history of District government.
Vida earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Sam Houston State University, and her Master of Public Policy and Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago.
