*The Elections Committee will conduct an election at the Feb. 21, 2026, ward-wide meeting to fill vacant precinct representative seats. For information about that meeting or to register to attend, please click here. Those elected will serve terms ending May 2027. Vacant seats are listed below.

The precincts listed below are holding a special caucus election on Feb. 21 to fill their vacancies:

  • Precinct 20 (Le Droit Park): 1 vacancy

  • Precinct 22 (U Street / Cardozo): 1 vacancy

  • Precinct 24 (East Adams Morgan): 1 vacancy

  • Precinct 25 (West Adams Morgan): 4 vacancies

  • Precinct 35: (West Adams Morgan / Kalorama) 2 vacancies

  • Precinct 36: (Columbia Heights) 1 vacancy

  • Precinct 38: (South Park View): 1 vacancy

  • Precinct 39: (South Mount Pleasant): 1 vacancy

  • Precinct 40: (Mount Pleasant): 1 vacancy

  • Precinct 42 (Northeast Columbia Heights): 1 vacancy

Eligibility to Run for Precinct Representative

You qualify to run if you:

  • are a registered Democrat

  • live in Ward One

  • reside in the precinct you want to represent

  • are properly nominated

Who Can Vote in a Precinct Caucus

You can vote if you:

  • are a registered Democrat

  • reside in the affected precinct

  • properly register at or before the meeting and receive a ballot

How to Become a Candidate

Candidates are nominated in one of two ways*:

  1. Nomination by Form: Submitting the Precinct Representative Advanced Nomination Form constitutes a nomination.

  2. Nominations from the Floor: When nominations are opened at the caucus, an eligible voter may nominate an eligible candidate (including self-nomination).

*Nominations do not establish eligibility. All nominees must meet the eligibility requirements for precinct representative. Candidate presence is not required to be nominated or elected. Voters must be present and properly registered to cast a ballot.
