All registered Democrats who reside in Ward One are invited to register and join us on Saturday, July 26 at 11:30 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Library.
Purpose
To resume and complete the unfinished business of the Ward 1 Democrats Convention originally convened on June 14, 2025. Business will resume at the point of interruption and will include:
Credentialing of participants;
Election of pro forma officer(s);
Approval of minutes for the June 14, 2025, convention;
Formal announcement of officer election results; and,
Completion of remaining items on the adopted June 14 Convention agenda.
No new business will be taken up unless permitted by a vote of the assembly, pursuant to Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised (12th ed.), §9:17–18.
Eligibility & Procedure
This meeting is open to all registered Democrats residing in Ward 1 in Washington, D.C. A quorum for a ward-wide meeting consists of twenty-five (25) members in good standing, including at least three (3) officers, as required under Article VI of the Ward 1 Democrats Bylaws.
This notice is issued by authority of the Executive Committee of the Ward 1 Democrats in compliance with the Bylaws and the adopted parliamentary authority, Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised.

Precinct Representative Elections
Precinct representatives serve on the Ward 1 Democratic Committee, the governing body of the Ward 1 Democrats. The election procedure will be as follows:
The number of representatives allocated to each precinct is listed in the Precinct Representative Table.
Members who have expressed interest in serving as precinct representatives will be nominated. Here is the list of interested members and here is the form to add your name. The list of interested members will be updated daily by midnight.
Nominations from the floor will also be accepted, provided the nominee is an eligible candidate under the Ward 1 Democrats Bylaws (i.e., a registered Democrat residing in the precinct they seek to represent). The Elections Committee will verify eligibility prior to voting.
Voting for precinct representatives will be conducted by ballot and will be conducted by the Elections Committee. Voting is limited to members of the precinct who are in attendance.
Immediately following, the newly-elected precinct representatives will convene and elect four of their number to serve on the Ward 1 Democrats Executive Committee. The precinct representatives must decide the method of voting before proceeding. The Elections Committee will oversee the election.
Following these elections, the assembly may discuss proposed revisions to the bylaws.
