BRAD JOHNSON

A lifelong Democrat, Brad Johnson grew up in Boston and attended the city’s public schools. He first became active in politics in 2004, volunteering for the Howard Dean and John Kerry presidential campaigns as well as the Democratic National Convention, and soon after joined his local Democratic ward committee.
Brad moved to Ward One in 2006 to work for the Democratic National Committee and later the Center for American Progress. From 2015 to 2018, he founded and directed a Washington, D.C.–based nonprofit focused on advancing climate politics. In 2019, Brad and his family moved to Mount Pleasant, where he has continued to deepen his commitment to community organizing and progressive politics.
He is a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians, the National Writers Union, and Free DC, and has helped organize with Democracy for America, Integrated Schools, and Our Revolution.
Brad Johnson is dedicated to building a Democratic Party that reflects the values of equity, inclusion, social and environmental justice, and home rule for Washington, D.C.
